Western Digital My Passport - forgotten password

If you have locked the drive with a password using WD SmartWare and have forgotten the password, you will no longer be able to access the data.

There is no solution for this problem.
So, there is no possibility to recover your data if you forgot WD password.
Data or partition recovery softwares can't rebuild the earlier ecrypted files and folders.

See the Official WD Support's information:

"Thank you for contacting Western Digital Support.

If you have locked the drive with a password using WD SmartWare and have forgotten the password, you will no longer be able to access the data.
The drive is encrypted using 256 bit AES encryption algorithm and for obvious security reasons WD does not make a copy of your password or store it anywhere.

You will need to enter an incorrect password five times and the WD SmartWare will prompt you to format the drive.
Once that is done, your drive will once again be accessible.
The data will be lost!

Setting up security to lock or unlock a WD external drive with WD SmartWare:

    2. Even if the disk is formatted you will not be able to get the data back. If the data is encrypted then formatting the drive will not unencrypt it. Data recovery software would only retrieve the original encrypted files.
